PESHAWAR: On Monday, the Pakistan Sports Festival 2023 finished with tremendous fervour in Dir, Chitral, Bajaur, Mohmand, and Khyber.
The celebration began off on February 1st, thanks to the partnership of district administrations and Frontier Corps (FC) North.
Closing ceremonies were held individually in each district, with FC North Inspector General Major General Noor Wali Khan attending the Khyber district's closing event as the primary guest.
There were 971 teams and 9,375 participants from various schools, madrasas, and universities competing in various sporting activities at the festival. Cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, badminton, cycling, and numerous winter sports were among them.
Cricket and wheelchair matches for differently abled people were also staged for the first time at the event.
FC North IG presented medals and trophies to the top teams and players who succeeded in the healthy event, which was attended by a significant number of youngsters, seniors, senior civil and military authorities, and other guests, at the closing ceremony.
The event kicked out on February 1 in Dir, Chitral, and tribal districts of Bajaur, Mohmand, and Khyber, under the supervision of the local government and security forces. On Monday, it came to an end after 50 days in several districts.
The ending ceremony was conducted at Jamrud Sports Complex, and the principal guest was Inspector General Frontier Corps-North Maj-Gen Noor Wali Khan. A march past was done by athletes, while youngsters performed different tableaus such as gymnastics and tug-of-war.
Traditional Khattak, Mehsud, and Chitrali dances were also performed by local artists.
9375 participants from schools, madaris, and colleges competed in 971 teams in various sports activities such as cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, badminton, cycling, and so on.
The concluding ceremony in the Khyber area was attended by a huge number of youngsters, local elders, civil and military leaders, and other visitors. The best teams and players received medals and trophies from the IGFC-North.
The event aided in the promotion of sports and healthy contests among tribal youngsters. It gave young players from all across the region a chance to get together, demonstrate their skills, and compete in a fun setting.
